WordPress is one of the popular Content Management System (CMS). With the advancement of cloud, we often see some effort to deploy or to migrate wordpress to AWS cloud. Today in this article, we will discuss about it. We will see the pros and the cons of having wordpress on AWS cloud – from both technical and economy perspective.

Introduction

In this article, we will first discuss the process of wordpress deployment on AWS Cloud and then we will also put some light on deploying wordpress on wordpress hosting.

You can host wordpress on AWS in 2 distinct ways –

You can use ec2 instances for deploying wordpress.

Alternatively, you can also use AWS managed service that is AWS Lightsail for deploying wordpress.

WordPress on ec2 instance

If you want to deploy your wordpress on an ec2 instance, I would suggest to use Terraform or Cloud Formation for deploying your instance. Both of them will give you better control on managing your resource on AWS. In this article, we will consider cloud formation template and deploy wordpress on multi availability zone so that we can have better scalability and high availability.

So, we will create an Amazon EC2 instance, an Application Load Balancer and an Amazon RDS database instance. AWS already provides a handy template for that.
